About the Show
The St. Augustine Winter Spectacular is a holiday production that was created in 2013 by The Dance Company and continues to be a holiday favorite amidst the Nights of Lights at Lewis Auditorium at Flagler College in downtown St. Augustine.
Executive Artistic Director Stephanie Burkhardt Lahti, a former TDC dancer herself, created the show after a trip to New York City’s Broadway district during the holidays. Wanting to bring the big city caliber of entertainment back to her quaint hometown, she and the artistic staff wrote the holiday show and continue to rewrite and tweak the story each year, making it fresh and memorable for all ages in the community. By adding in different professional dancers and choreographers each year alongside over 100 local performers who audition to be in the show, locals and visitors come back year after year for this holiday tradition.
The St. Augustine Winter Spectacular captures the flavor of the iconic Radio City Rockettes mixed with familiar holiday music and characters amidst a stage artistry of ballet, tap, acrobatics, musical theater, kicklines, aerial arts, and more. We have seen audience members revel in laughter, tears, wonder, and awe as they soak in the best of the winter season during the St. Augustine Winter Spectacular.
Shows are Saturday, December 13th at 7pm and Sunday, December 14th at 2pm. The show is 90 minutes including a brief intermission. Tickets range in price from $20-$30 and are available to sponsors early with public sales shortly after (tickets are all online and go on sale Saturday, October 18th at 9am.) Holiday beverages and refreshments will be sold in the lobby before the show and during intermission. The lobby is open one hour prior to showtime, and house doors open 30 minutes before the show. We recommend arriving early (downtown traffic and parking during Nights of Lights can take time!) Enjoy the lobby and ambiance before the shows~ take a photo with Santa, enjoy our photobooth, grab a glass of champagne or treat, and enjoy the show!
The Dance Company is located in the historic old St. Augustine Beach hotel, adjacent to the St. Augustine Beach pier, in the heart of St. Augustine Beach. The studio has provided strong technical and artistic training in the community for more than 30 years. As a civic minded nonprofit, The Dance Company provides scholarships, tuition assistance, community performances and numerous volunteer opportunities throughout the year. The studio’s focus has always centered around providing for its community and a portion of the proceeds from The St. Augustine Winter Spectacular benefits its “Everyone Dances” scholarship initiative which supports young dancers in need.
